Things to do in Downtown Indianapolis this fall

Downtown Indianapolis is a terrific place to be in the fall. With plenty of green space, urban walking paths, and venues for food, music, and fun, there’s truly something for everyone. Here are just a few downtown events you can look forward to this fall. 


St. Joan of Arc French Market Festival

On September 10th from noon to 10 p.m., join one of Indy’s largest neighborhood festivals with live entertainment, artisan booths, raffles, a children's area, games, and an array of French and American cuisine to celebrate the feast day of St. Joan of Arc.


Circle City Classic Parade

One of the longest-running downtown Indy events is the Circle City Classic Parade and football game that raises money to support youth and family programming and scholarships. It takes place on September 24 at 10 a.m. 


Autumn Planter Workshop 

Create a unique autumn-themed planter to spice up your doorway September 25th at 1 p.m. at Dammann’s Family Fall Fest. This class includes tips from their designer Kathy, a planter, mums, mini pumpkins, and other decorative fall elements. 


Community Sing at Sun King Brewery

This one is just what it sounds like– a communal singing event where you can sit and listen, or sing along! It’s happening on September 26th at Sun King in downtown Indianapolis. 


Indianapolis Oktoberfest

The 12th annual Oktoberfest takes place again this year on Monument Circle on September 30th from 6 to 11 p.m. Enjoy street foods, drinks, brats, jumbo franks, soft pretzels, and more. Indy’s Liederkranz & DysFUNKtion Brass Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. 


Flicks at Victory Field

Enjoy the beloved film Encanto outdoors at Victory Field Saturday, October 1st. Group rates and seating are available, and the gates open at 6 p.m. 


Indy Jazz Fest

This annual festival that started in Indianapolis in 1999 takes place on October 1st and 2nd in the beautiful Garfield Park McAllister Amphitheater. Enjoy two days of live local artists, food, and fun.


Harvest at Newfields

Enjoy a spooky outdoor walking experience evenings at Newfields from October 2nd through Halloween. You can also attend the daytime exhibit, which includes fall plant displays, art activities, local vendors, and more. 


Monument Circle Art Fair

This annual event takes place on October 8th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, just a 2.5-mile walk or a 10-minute drive from River West Flats. The fair features local art, music, crafts, and food.
